Suspended NDC Communicator Mr. Bernard Allotey Jacobs says he has decided to withdraw from his Wednesday panel discussion on Kwame Sefa Kayi’s Kokrokoo morning show which is arguably the most popular morning show in the country.
Speaking on Kokrokoo on Wednesday 13th May, 2020 via phone, Allotey says after discussions with his family and what seems like a “spiritual” discussion with the late Prof. John Evans Atta-Mills, he had come to the conclusion that it was best for him, the NDC and the entire country that he withdraws from all media engagements except when he’s called on specific issues.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) suspended Mr. Jacobs who doubles as the party’s former Central Regional Chairman according to a Graphic Report.
A letter addressed to Mr Jacobs and signed by the National Chairman of the NDC, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, said Mr Jacobs was suspended for “persistent anti-party conduct”.
The NDC, before suspending Allotey Jacobs, had written to withdraw from Sefa Kayi’s morning show claiming the host of the show had “dictatorial tendencies” and was trying to dictate who appears on his show on behalf of the NDC.
According to Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the NDC, his party has had an 8-month running battle with the show’s production team on the need to dispense with the services of the party’s former Central Regional Chairman, Allotey Jacobs, as their representative on the show, since the latter has ceased serving their interest; but with no success.
Kwame Sefa Kayi and the Kokrokoo production team however, took a stand with Mr. Bernard Allotey Jacobs and refused to kick him off their Wednesday panel.
Allotey’s decision, however, presents a challenge to Peace FM and the Despite Group.
Will they rescind their decision to stand with Bernard Allotey Jacobs or cozy up to the NDC. The NDC have what they wanted all along but what will be their reaction should Peace FM ask them back on their big morning show? We will keep you posted.
