Veteran Nigerian actor Patrick Doyle has announced the death of his newborn daughter just a day after she was born.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Doyle said the baby, named Omayinuwa Mayen Harriet Doyle, was delivered on Friday, 10 April, at about 10:40am but passed away on Saturday, 11 April, at around 4:15pm.
He described her short life as one that brought joy to the family despite the tragic outcome.
“Her stay was short, but it brought great joy with it,” he wrote.
The actor, who is married to Funmilayo Doyle, expressed faith in God following the loss, saying, “God still rules in the affairs of men” and “it is well with our soul.”
The announcement has triggered an outpouring of condolences from fans and followers across social media.
