Asante Kotoko have issued an apology to their supporters following a string of disappointing performances in the Ghana Premier League, as pressure mounts on the struggling Kumasi-based club.

The Porcupine Warriors are currently enduring a poor run of form, managing just two wins in their last eight matches. Their slump includes a heavy 4–0 defeat to league leaders Medeama SC, a result that has further deepened concerns among fans and stakeholders.

Kotoko have now dropped to sixth place on the league table and sit 10 points adrift of the summit, significantly weakening their title ambitions.

Interim coach Prince Owusu, who stepped in following the resignation of Karim Zito, has described Kotoko’s chances of catching the league leaders as “impossible,” reflecting the scale of the challenge facing the team. Zito’s tenure ended after a difficult spell that yielded just one win in his final six matches.

In a statement posted on social media, the club acknowledged the concerns of supporters and accepted responsibility for the recent performances.

“We fully understand the expectations that come with representing this great club,” the statement said. “We continue to sincerely apologise for the disappointing performances in recent matches.”

The club also confirmed that efforts are underway to appoint a substantive head coach, stating that the Board is working to secure a manager whose philosophy aligns with Kotoko’s long-term ambitions.

Kotoko will next be in action in the first week of May when they face Dreams FC. The team will not play this week following the withdrawal of Hohoe United from the competition.

The apology comes amid growing pressure on the club to stabilise its form and revive its campaign in the remaining fixtures of the season.
