Ghanaian highlife musician Kuami Eugene has opened up about what he describes as the most difficult period of his life and career, revealing that he lost two close family members, survived a near-fatal accident, and endured intense online speculation within a short span.

Speaking on TV3 Ghana’s Late Afternoon Show, the award-winning artiste said he was hospitalised for about four months following the accident, forcing him to halt all professional activities.

“I had an accident in which I almost lost my life and then I had to be hospitalised for about four months. For about four months, everything was on hold. No show. No show means no income,” he said.

The singer added that the prolonged recovery period significantly affected his finances, although he relied on personal savings to cover medical bills, travel, and funeral expenses.

Within the same period, Kuami Eugene said he suffered the loss of both his grandmother and father, describing the sequence of events as overwhelming.

He also recounted how false claims about his death circulated on social media while he was recovering, a situation he said took an emotional toll.

“A lot of people on social media were saying, ‘Kuami Eugene is dead right now… That’s the price you pay for being a celebrity. People expect you to be strong all the time,” he said.

Reflecting on the experience, the musician described the period as the “darkest moment” since he rose to fame but expressed gratitude for surviving and gradually rebuilding his life and career.
