Ghanaian rapper Okyeame Kwame has praised fellow artiste Black Sherif, revealing that one of his songs moved him to tears and reaffirmed his admiration for the rising star’s music.
Speaking on Orange FM in Kumasi on Monday, Okyeame Kwame said Black Sherif is currently the musician who excites him the most, citing the emotional depth of his work.
“The artiste who excites me the most now is Black Sherif. I like his stuff,” he said.
He singled out the song “So It Goes,” which features Nigerian singer Fireboy DML, describing his first encounter with the track as overwhelming.
“The first time I heard the song, I cried,” he disclosed.
According to him, he was in the studio preparing to record when producer Abochi played the song, which had only been released a few days earlier at the time.
“I was in the studio recording my song. Before we started, Abochi played the song and the song touched me,” he said.
Okyeame Kwame said the song’s lyrics, particularly the line “Don’t forget about me so soon. If you see the light, remember that I was with you,” resonated deeply with him.
“Black Sherif’s stuff touches me differently,” he added.
