Kid Patriot Club Ghana has raised concerns over what it describes as the gradual decline of Ghanaian culture, values, and local languages in many private and international schools across the country.

According to the club, the teaching and promotion of indigenous Ghanaian languages in some educational institutions continue to diminish, a situation it believes could negatively affect the country’s cultural identity and heritage if urgent steps are not taken.

Speaking at the 2026 media launch of Kids Discovering Ghana in Accra, the Founder of Kid Patriot Club Ghana, Eleanora Portia Baffour-Agyei, popularly known as Mama Posh, disclosed that only about 11.8 percent of private and international schools in Ghana currently teach local languages.

She further revealed that nearly 71 percent of these schools do not engage pupils in traditional Ghanaian games, a development she said contributes to the erosion of cultural values among children.

Mama Posh stressed the need for deliberate efforts by parents, schools, and stakeholders in the education sector to preserve Ghana’s cultural heritage by introducing children to local languages, traditional foods, customs, and indigenous content.

She urged parents to intentionally expose their children to Ghanaian culture at home and beyond the classroom, noting that cultural identity plays a crucial role in shaping responsible and confident future leaders.

The Kids Discovering Ghana initiative is aimed at reconnecting children with Ghana’s rich cultural heritage through education, cultural activities, and interactive learning experiences.
