The Black Stars of Ghana have arrived safely in the United States as preparations intensify ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The senior national team departed Cardiff on Wednesday, June 3, after several weeks of training aimed at sharpening the squad for the global tournament.

The delegation, comprising players, technical staff, and officials, is now based in Providence, Rhode Island, where preparations for the next phase of their build-up will continue.

Head coach Carlos Queiroz travelled with his final 26-man squad, which was confirmed on Monday, June 1, bringing clarity to the group that will carry Ghana’s ambitions into the competition.

Before leaving Wales, Ghana concluded a key phase of preparations with a friendly at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday, June 2.

Caleb Yirenkyi opened the scoring in the second half, but the Black Stars were later pegged back after defensive lapses allowed Lewis Koumas to restore parity for the home side.

With that match behind them, focus now shifts fully to tactical refinement and strengthening team cohesion ahead of the World Cup.

Ghana are expected to play another preparatory friendly against Jamaica on June 10 as part of their final tune-up schedule.

The Black Stars, who will be making their fifth World Cup appearance, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. They open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.

The four-time African champions will be hoping to surpass their previous best performance at the tournament—reaching the quarter-finals in 2010.
