Former Black Stars forward David Accam has expressed concern over Ghana’s form and overall cohesion as the team builds up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

His remarks add to growing scrutiny of the side’s inconsistency, despite a squad featuring players who compete in some of Europe’s top leagues.

Ghana have been drawn in a challenging Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia at the tournament to be staged in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The Black Stars are also stepping up preparations with an international friendly against Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Speaking to Graphic Sports, Accam offered a blunt assessment of the team’s recent displays, insisting that Ghana’s main issue is not talent but a lack of collective structure and identity.

“We have individuals and not a team,” Accam said.

“Every time I watch them [Black Stars], it is difficult to see them play as a team. It is difficult to identify a style of play or a tactical approach. Most of the time, we rely on individual players to produce something special,” he added.

Ghana have already arrived in the United States and will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before facing England at Gillette Stadium on June 23 and wrapping up the group stage against Croatia on June 27.

The team will play one final warm-up match against Jamaica on June 10 as part of their preparations.
