Former Hearts of Oak head coach Didi Dramani has expressed optimism about Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the atmosphere within the Black Stars camp as positive and encouraging.

The senior national team are currently based in the United States as they intensify preparations for the tournament, where they have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Dramani praised the team’s unity and backed head coach Carlos Queiroz to build a disciplined and competitive side capable of standing up to elite opposition.

“The energy in the Black Stars squad for the World Cup is marvellous, and Carlos Queiroz will do his best to organise the team, stay compact defensively, and avoid conceding goals in the tournament,” Dramani said.

The Black Stars have relocated their training camp to D.C. United’s facilities as part of the final phase of their preparations ahead of the global showpiece.

Ghana will open their Group L campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before taking on England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium. They will wrap up the group stage against Croatia on June 27.

Under Queiroz, the four-time African champions will be targeting a return to the knockout stages for the first time since their historic run in 2010, having exited at the group stage in both 2014 and 2022.

The team’s preparations continue to generate optimism among football stakeholders, with expectations rising ahead of what promises to be a highly competitive tournament.
