Ghana and Brazil are exploring new opportunities to deepen cultural ties and boost tourism cooperation following discussions between the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Yussif Issaka Jajah, and a Brazilian delegation led by renowned content creator and tourism promoter Wode Maya.
The meeting focused on strengthening cultural relations between the two countries through festivals, cultural exchanges and tourism promotion initiatives.
As part of the engagement, the Brazilian delegation invited Ghana to participate in the São Paulo Carnival, one of the largest cultural events in Latin America. The delegation also revealed plans by a leading Brazilian Samba school to make Ghana the central theme of its 2027 carnival parade.
The proposed showcase is expected to celebrate Ghana’s rich history, culture and heritage while highlighting some of the country’s iconic landmarks before a global audience of millions.
Speaking during the engagement, Jajah welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to exploring partnerships that promote Ghanaian culture, strengthen ties with the African diaspora, increase tourist arrivals and deepen bilateral relations between Ghana and Brazil.
According to the deputy minister, such collaborations present an opportunity to showcase Ghana’s cultural identity on the global stage while creating new avenues for tourism growth and cultural exchange.
The discussions also underscored the shared historical and cultural connections between Ghana and Brazil, rooted in Afro-Brazilian heritage.
The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to leverage cultural diplomacy as a tool for promoting Ghana’s tourism sector and strengthening international partnerships.
