The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Setor Dumelo, has announced a series of community initiatives aimed at enhancing access to the FIFA World Cup for residents of his constituency.

In a post shared on X on Thursday (11 June), Dumelo said free public viewing centres will be established across multiple communities to enable residents to watch Ghana’s matches collectively during the tournament.

He disclosed that DSTV subscriptions have already been secured for selected centres to ensure uninterrupted live broadcasts.

The initiative will feature giant screens at key locations, including Abelemkpe Astro Turf Park, Okponglo, Mempasem, Airport Residential Area, West Legon and Dzorwulu.

While some centres will screen all matches, all designated venues are expected to broadcast Ghana’s games.

Beyond the viewing experience, the legislator also announced a food support programme targeting both football fans and small-scale food vendors.

As part of the initiative, 13 kenkey sellers within the constituency will distribute free kenkey and fish to residents during Ghana’s matches.

Dumelo said the programme is intended to foster community spirit, promote a shared national experience and support local businesses during the tournament.
