Former MP for Odododiodoo Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has resigned as National Coordinator of the District Road Infrastructure Project (DRIP) to pursue a national executive position with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Vanderpuye, in a statement issued on Friday (12 June) said he stepped down to “continue serving our party and country in a different capacity” and to help strengthen democratic institutions.
His resignation comes days after he told Citi FM that he would contest the NDC National Chairmanship if current chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah does not seek re-election.
Nketiah has not announced his plans for the party’s internal elections.
In the statement, Vanderpuye thanked President John Dramani Mahama for appointing him to lead DRIP, a government programme focused on upgrading local roads and infrastructure.
He described his tenure as “a great honour and privilege” and said the programme had helped improve livelihoods across communities.
He said he remains committed to the Mahama administration and NDC values, and expressed confidence in DRIP’s future under new leadership.
