Ghana has secured the rights to host the landmark 70th Session of the UN Tourism Commission for Africa (CAF) in 2027, marking a major milestone for the country’s tourism and cultural sectors.

The hosting rights were awarded during the 69th Session of the Commission held in Seychelles, where Ghana’s bid was successfully approved.

The event will coincide with Ghana’s 70th Independence Anniversary, presenting a unique opportunity for the country to welcome tourism ministers, policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders from across the continent.

Presenting Ghana’s bid, the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, highlighted the country’s commitment to leveraging tourism as a driver of sustainable development, economic growth, cultural exchange, and African integration.

Hosting the prestigious gathering is expected to further elevate Ghana’s profile as one of Africa’s leading destinations for heritage, cultural, and diaspora tourism, while providing an international platform to showcase the country’s rich history, creative arts, hospitality, and diverse tourism attractions.

The event is also expected to boost investment opportunities, strengthen regional collaboration, and reinforce Ghana’s growing reputation as a preferred destination for global tourism events.
