The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested 10 suspected drug offenders during an intelligence-led operation carried out across several communities in Cape Coast in the Central Region.

The coordinated operation targeted suspected drug trafficking and abuse hotspots, including Pedu, Victoria Road, the University of Cape Coast (UCC) area, Downtown and other strategic locations.

According to NACOC, the exercise forms part of its ongoing efforts to clamp down on the illicit drug trade and improve public safety.

The Commission said officers conducted simultaneous raids at multiple locations, leading to the arrest of the suspects and the retrieval of exhibits believed to be linked to illegal narcotics activities.

The suspects, made up of both men and women aged between 24 and 55, are currently assisting with investigations.

NACOC indicated that the seized exhibits will undergo further examination as part of the Commission’s investigations into the suspected drug-related activities.

The Commission said the operation demonstrates its commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and reducing the availability of illicit substances in communities.

The suspects are expected to be processed in accordance with the law after investigations are concluded.

NACOC also appealed to the public to continue providing credible information to support its efforts to combat drug trafficking and other narcotics-related offences across the country.
