The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed its members nationwide to participate in the clean-up exercise scheduled for Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, despite the party’s constituency elections falling on the same weekend.

In a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party urged members to demonstrate their commitment to environmental sanitation, civic responsibility and national development by taking part in the exercise initiated by President John Dramani Mahama.

The NPP acknowledged that its constituency elections will take place on Saturday, July 11, but encouraged members to join the clean-up exercise after casting their ballots, as voting will be conducted on a walk-in basis.

According to the party, the sanitation exercise provides an opportunity for members to contribute to improving cleanliness in their communities while promoting responsible citizenship.

“The Party calls on all members to demonstrate their unwavering commitment to environmental sanitation, civic responsibility, and national development through their active participation,” the statement said.

The nationwide clean-up exercise is part of efforts to improve sanitation conditions following the June 29 floods, which affected several parts of the country and heightened concerns over poor waste management and blocked drainage systems.
