Family, fashion industry bid farewell to designer Halimatu Sadia Sanusi today

Family, friends, clients and members of Ghana’s fashion industry are expected to gather on Friday to pay their final respects to celebrated fashion designer Halimatu Sadia Sanusi at funeral rites in Accra.

According to details shared on her official business page, the final funeral rites will begin with a lying-in-state at ICGC Christ Temple East, where mourners will have the opportunity to pay their last respects.

The lying-in-state will be followed by a memorial and burial service celebrating her life, career and contributions to Ghana’s fashion industry.

A private interment and family funeral rites will take place after the public service.

A thanksgiving service has also been scheduled for Sunday, 12 July, at the same venue.

Organisers have asked mourners attending both the funeral and thanksgiving services to observe a black dress code.

Sadia Sanusi was widely recognised for her luxury couture, bridal collections and bespoke kente creations, earning a reputation for craftsmanship, elegance and timeless designs.

Her work attracted a loyal clientele and established her as one of Ghana’s leading fashion designers, with many in the industry crediting her for helping elevate Ghanaian couture.

The funeral is expected to draw fashion industry stakeholders, admirers and members of the public to celebrate her life and honour her legacy.
