GoldBod backs Shatta Wale’s bid to market Ghanaian jewellery globally

Award-winning dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has proposed a strategic partnership with the Gold Board (GoldBod) to promote locally manufactured jewellery to international audiences through the upcoming ShattaFest UK.

The musician said the collaboration would showcase Ghanaian craftsmanship while creating new opportunities to grow the country’s creative economy by linking music, fashion and culture with the gold industry.

Shatta Wale made the proposal during a meeting with officials of the Ghana Gold Board, where he was accompanied by rapper Medikal and members of his management team. The discussions centred on potential areas of collaboration ahead of ShattaFest UK, one of the artiste’s flagship international events.

According to Shatta Wale, the initiative would use his international platform to increase the visibility of Ghana-made jewellery while supporting local manufacturers, designers and artisans.

“Our goal is to project Ghanaian-made jewellery beyond our borders and create opportunities for local artisans through music and entertainment,” he said.

Medikal also endorsed the proposal, saying Ghana’s music industry has the capacity to become a powerful promotional platform for locally produced gold and jewellery.

He said musicians could help market Ghanaian brands through music videos, concerts and international appearances, increasing global recognition for products made in the country.

Responding to the proposal, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board,Sammy Gyamfi, pledged the Board’s support for Shatta Wale and the ShattaFest UK initiative.

He described the dancehall artiste as a global ambassador whose influence could help promote Ghanaian gold, locally manufactured jewellery and the country’s image to international audiences.

The Ghana Gold Board said collaborations with influential figures in the creative industry form part of its broader strategy to position Ghanaian gold and locally made jewellery as globally recognised brands while expanding export and market opportunities for the sector.
