Dennis Miracles Aboagye, an aide to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2028 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has vowed to continue his bid for the position of National Communications Director of the party following his release from the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

In a statement issued after his release, Mr Aboagye said he emerged from four days in detention “unbroken” and more determined to lead the party’s communications machinery, insisting that efforts to intimidate him had failed.

Mr Aboagye was arrested by EOCO upon his arrival at the Kotoka International Airport on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

According to EOCO, his arrest formed part of investigations into alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities involving about GH¢55 million during his tenure as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD).

He was released on Tuesday evening after meeting his GH¢50 million bail conditions.

However, Mr Aboagye rejected what he described as a “false narrative” surrounding his arrest, insisting that the truth would eventually come out.

“For the records, there was no discussion of any GH¢55 million cedis with me by EOCO. None,” he said.

The former communications aide expressed appreciation to NPP supporters who showed solidarity during his detention, saying their actions strengthened his resolve.

“From my detention, word of your protests reached me, and it kept my spirit standing tall,” he said, adding that their support demonstrated that “no voice can be intimidated into silence.”

Mr Aboagye said the experience had only deepened his commitment to the NPP, declaring that attempts to weaken or discourage him had failed.

“If the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly,” he stated.

He further pledged to continue his campaign to lead the party’s Communications Directorate, insisting that “no cell, no false story, no intimidation” would derail his ambition.
