Alhaji Ibrahim Abdul Jalil, popularly known as “Director Arisky”, has announced his intention to contest for the position of Northern Regional Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the party’s regional elections in November.

Abdul Jalil, the chief executive of Might Construction Limited, said his campaign would focus on party unity, dedicated service, effective leadership and strengthening the NDC’s electoral fortunes in the Northern Region.

In a statement announcing his bid, he pledged to build what he described as a stronger, more united and vibrant party capable of consolidating support in one of the NDC’s traditional strongholds.

Abdul Jalil currently serves as a board member of Ghana Water Limited and is known within the party for supporting youth, women and grassroots initiatives across the region.

He previously served as the NDC’s Tamale South Constituency Treasurer from 2004 until 2020, making him one of the longest-serving constituency executives in the area represented in Parliament by Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu.

His declaration comes as the NDC prepares to elect a new crop of regional executives during internal elections scheduled for November 2026.

Abdul Jalil urged party members, supporters and stakeholders to approach the internal contest in the spirit of unity, mutual respect and democratic participation.

The NDC’s regional elections will determine the leadership responsible for coordinating party activities across the country’s regions ahead of future national and local electoral contests.
