New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong has launched his campaign for a second term, beginning with a tour of the Savannah Region where party executives and supporters pledged their backing ahead of the party’s internal elections.

Kodua, who is seeking re-election as General Secretary, was accompanied by a delegation that included Nalerigu-Gambaga MP Mohammed Nurudeen, Deputy General Secretary Haruna Mohammed, former Ablekuma Central MP Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey, former Youth Employment Agency Deputy CEO Bashiru Ibrahim, Deputy National Organiser Joseph Kwayaja Nganiba and Deputy Director of Communications Hajia Rabi Salifu.

According to the campaign, the delegation was received by the Savannah Regional Executive Committee led by Regional Chairman Kalamonia before touring the Salaga North, Salaga South and Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituencies.

Addressing party executives and members, Kodua outlined what he described as four priorities for a second term — preparing, positioning, focusing and rebuilding the NPP ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He said his first term had been marked by significant internal challenges but argued that the party had remained united and functional despite operating for several years without a substantive national chairman.

Kodua cited reforms undertaken during his tenure, including the expansion of the party’s electoral college to include former executives and appointed officers, strengthening of the party’s communications structures and the establishment of the Patriotic Institute to train future party leaders.

He said the reforms were intended to strengthen the party’s organisational capacity and prepare it for the 2028 elections.

At the end of the regional tour, constituency executives from Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Damongo and other constituencies endorsed Kodua’s bid for a second term, according to his campaign.

The executives said continuity in the office of the General Secretary would help consolidate ongoing reforms and strengthen the party ahead of the next general election.

Responding to the endorsements, Kodua thanked party executives for their support and pledged to continue implementing reforms aimed at strengthening the party, promoting unity and expanding grassroots participation if re-elected.

The Savannah Regional tour marks the first leg of Kodua’s nationwide campaign as he seeks another term as the NPP’s General Secretary.
