A Nigerian man has stirred debate on social media after calling on citizens to boycott South African singer Tyla’s upcoming concert in Nigeria over recurring xenophobic attacks against Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa.

In a viral video, the man urged Nigerians not to purchase tickets for the concert, arguing that supporting the event would send the wrong message while concerns about xenophobic violence remain unresolved.

He questioned the South African government’s response to the attacks, asking whether enough had been done to bring perpetrators to justice. He also criticised South African entertainers, including Tyla, for what he described as their silence on the issue.

According to him, citizens should take a stand when they believe their government has not done enough to protect their interests. He further argued that Nigeria has enough internationally recognised artistes to headline major concerts without relying on foreign performers.

The man said that while international conventions would prevent authorities from stopping Tyla from entering Nigeria, he would have barred the singer from visiting the country if he had the power to do so.

He ended his remarks by saying, “Allah will ban her from coming.”

The comments have generated mixed reactions online, with some social media users supporting his position while others argued that Tyla should not be held responsible for the actions of individuals involved in xenophobic attacks.
