Medeama SC have received a major boost ahead of their return to continental football after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved the Tarkwa and Aboso (TnA) Stadium to host the club’s preliminary round matches in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League.

The Ghana Premier League champions confirmed on Thursday, July 30, that the stadium has been granted Category 2 certification following a comprehensive inspection by CAF officials.

In a statement shared on the club’s official social media platforms, Medeama said the facility had met the continental body’s required standards to host CAF-sanctioned matches.

“Medeama SC is pleased to announce that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has granted Category 2 approval to TnA Stadium following a comprehensive inspection conducted by CAF experts,” the club said.

The approval allows the Tarkwa-based side to host preliminary round fixtures in CAF inter-club competitions.

The certification marks a major milestone for the Yellow and Mauves, who previously had to stage their continental home fixtures away from Tarkwa because their home ground did not meet CAF’s licensing requirements.

With the TnA Stadium now approved, Medeama will have the opportunity to play in front of their home supporters as they begin their latest CAF Champions League campaign, although CAF indicated that each match will remain subject to final confirmation in accordance with competition regulations.

Medeama secured qualification for the 2026/27 CAF Champions League after being crowned champions of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League, earning the right to represent Ghana in Africa’s premier club competition.

The club will discover their preliminary round opponents when the CAF Champions League draw is held in August 2026. First-leg matches in the opening preliminary round are scheduled to take place between September 4 and 6, 2026.

Buoyed by the approval of the TnA Stadium, Medeama will be aiming to capitalise on home advantage as they seek to make another impressive impact on the continental stage.
