The Legislative Instrument (L.I.) required to provide legal backing for Ghana’s Creative Arts Fund is expected to be presented to Parliament for consideration and approval, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has announced.

According to the Minister, the L.I. is currently undergoing consideration at the Attorney-General’s Department and is expected to be forwarded to Parliament soon.

She disclosed this during the Government Accountability Series on Monday, August 10, 2026, while providing an update on developments within the tourism, culture and creative arts sector.

The Creative Arts Fund is intended to provide financial support for initiatives in the sector, including talent development, artistic projects and other activities aimed at promoting the growth of Ghana’s creative industry.

The establishment of the Fund follows the government’s announcement in the 2026 Budget of GH¢20 million in seed funding to support the creative arts sector.

Ms Gomashie explained that the passage of the L.I. will establish the legal and operational framework necessary for the Fund to become fully functional.

Once approved, the framework is expected to enable the government to begin providing financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries and support various initiatives aimed at developing Ghana’s creative arts industry.

The move is expected to provide much-needed funding opportunities for creatives and organisations within the sector, particularly those undertaking projects that contribute to the growth and development of Ghana’s creative economy.
