Databank Ghana Chief Executive Officer, Kojo Addae-Mensah, has criticised Black Stars midfielder Kwasi Sibo, insisting the 28-year-old is not good enough to represent Ghana at the international level.

Sibo was included in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America and featured in all four of the Black Stars’ matches during the tournament.

However, his performances have come under criticism, with the midfielder struggling to make a significant impact throughout Ghana’s campaign.

Reflecting on Sibo’s displays at the World Cup, Mr Addae-Mensah questioned the midfielder’s suitability for the national team and called for him to be left out of the squad ahead of Ghana’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

“Kwasi Sibo is a good footballer, but not good enough to play for Black Stars,” Addae-Mensah told Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.

Sibo, who previously played for Spanish side Real Oviedo, will now face competition for a place in the Black Stars squad as Ghana prepares for the next phase of its international campaign.

Meanwhile, Kwasi Sibo is now a free agent after leaving the Spanish side following the expiration of his contract.

The Black Stars are set to return to action in September when they begin their qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, after failing to qualify for the previous edition of the tournament in Morocco.

Ghana have been drawn in Group C alongside West African rivals Ivory Coast, The Gambia and Somalia, with the Black Stars hoping to secure a place at the tournament to be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
