Dr Nana Benyin Enninful has been elected Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Germany Branch following a keenly contested election held simultaneously in Hamburg and Saarbrücken.

Dr Enninful defeated incumbent Chairman Dr Felix Yamoah in an election the party described as peaceful, transparent and reflective of its commitment to internal democracy.

The newly elected leadership is expected to steer the affairs of the NPP Germany Branch for the next four years.

Dr Enninful will be supported by Edith Opoku Mensah, popularly known as Nana Ama Seewaah, as First Vice Chairperson, while Ruth Lindenberger will serve as Second Vice Chairperson.

Kofi Okantah has been elected Secretary, with Frempong Boakye Isaac, also known as FBI, serving as Deputy Secretary.

Sitah Abdul-Hhaaliq will take up the position of Organizer, while Michael Arthur, popularly known as McArthur, will serve as Communication Officer.

The new executive team also includes Madam Mary Ahenkan, popularly known as Kumasi Market, as Women’s Organizer, while Oppong Odkuku Kwadwo has been elected Youth Organizer.

Mohamed Awal will serve as Treasurer, with Alhaji Busy Ouedraogo taking up the position of Nasara Organizer.

The election was marked by what the party described as a strong spirit of sportsmanship, with unsuccessful candidates conceding defeat and pledging their support to the newly elected executives.

The new leadership says the development provides an opportunity for the branch to move forward with greater unity and focus, without internal divisions.

In his first remarks following his election, Dr Enninful expressed gratitude to delegates for entrusting him and his team with the mandate.

He pledged to lead an administration that would be open, inclusive and responsive to the concerns of members, regardless of who they supported during the election.

“This is not just an election victory; it is a new dawn for our beloved party in Germany,” Dr Enninful said.

“My administration will be built on the bedrock of democratic leadership, where every voice is heard, every opinion is respected, and every member matters. I extend a hand of fellowship to all whether you were with us yesterday or not. The doors of this branch are open to everyone who believes in the NPP’s vision of progress.”

He said strengthening the party’s grassroots base would be a key priority of his administration, arguing that an engaged membership would help build stronger chapters and a more effective branch.

The new administration is expected to focus on strengthening unity, discipline, grassroots engagement and communication among the various NPP chapters across Germany.

Communication Officer-Elect Michael Arthur said effective communication would be central to the success of the new administration.

He said the branch would work towards ensuring that members receive timely and accurate information on its activities and decisions, while also creating platforms for members to share their views and concerns.

The new executives also intend to strengthen coordination among chapters and mobilise support ahead of Ghana’s 2028 general elections.

The leadership further highlighted the need to empower women, youth and other groups within the diaspora branch to take on more active roles in the party.

Dr Enninful called on all members, including supporters of the defeated candidates, former executives and party members who may have become disengaged, to join the new administration in rebuilding the branch.

“We are stronger together. There is no room for division or bitterness. The ultimate strength of the NPP Germany Branch lies not in individual personalities but in the collective efforts of its members,” he said.

The new executives have pledged to work with the outgoing leadership, chapter executives, delegates and the wider membership to preserve the achievements of previous administrations while addressing areas requiring improvement.

They described the election as the beginning of a new phase for the branch and called for collective responsibility in building a more united, inclusive and better-organised NPP Germany Branch.
