Parliament has been recalled from recess for a five-day sitting to consider what Speaker Alban Bagbin described as urgent parliamentary business.
In a notice issued Wednesday, Bagbin directed Members of Parliament to return to the House from Monday, 24, to Friday, 28 August.
The recall was made under Order 58(4) of Parliament’s Standing Orders, less than three weeks after the House adjourned on July 31.
Parliament had initially been expected to remain on recess until October, but MPs will now resume sitting at noon on 24 August at Parliament House in Accra.
The Speaker’s notice did not specify the nature of the urgent business that prompted the recall.
The five-day sitting comes as Parliament prepares to resume legislative work following its scheduled recess.
