Both the college football and NFL seasons are on the horizon, and the return of football means that Laura Rutledge will be a mainstay on our screens once again.

Over a decade into her time at ESPN, Rutledge remains a prominent part of the network’s football coverage as both a host and reporter.

Rutledge’s estimated net worth is unconfirmed. However, Pro Football & Sports Network reported in 2024 that she drew a $400,000 annual salary. Although Rutledge signed a multi-year extension with ESPN in early 2025, financial terms have not been disclosed. 

ESPN President of Content Burke Magnus called her a “consummate professional” and praised her versatility in a press release announcing the extension.

Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, Rutledge initially rose to prominence when she won "Miss Florida" in 2012. She joined ESPN and the SEC Network two years later, having previously worked as a sideline reporter for Fox Sports.

Rutledge had also cultivated a following in San Diego as a sideline reporter for Padres games and a host of a Chargers show on Fox Sports San Diego.

The SEC Network named Rutledge the host of “SEC Nation” in 2017, and she took over “NFL Live” in 2020. She became a full-time co-sideline reporter alongside Lisa Salters on “Monday Night Football” in 2025. She voluntarily left her “SEC Nation” hosting duties to avoid being overwhelmed.

Rutledge has also contributed to ABC News and “Good Morning America” when needed. Disney owns both corporations, and they have occasionally overlapped in recent years. 

Rutledge is expected to continue working as a sideline reporter during the SEC Championship, College Football Playoff, and select college games.
