Thirteen staff members of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) are set to formally join the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), popularly known as Mahama Cares, after spending a year helping to establish and operationalise the Fund.

The officers were seconded to the GMTF during its establishment and played key roles in developing its systems and operations.

Speaking at a ceremony to formally release the officers, NHIA Chief Executive, Dr Bampoe, commended them for accepting the responsibility of helping to build a new institution.

“When the Ghana Medical Trust Fund was established, these officers answered the call to serve. They left familiar roles within the NHIA and took on the task of helping build a new institution from the ground up. Today, as they officially join the Fund, we celebrate their courage, commitment and the impact they have made,” he said.

Dr Bampoe said continued efforts to strengthen Ghana’s health sector required collaboration among institutions towards a common goal.

He assured the officers of the NHIA’s continued support as they take up their new responsibilities at the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.

He also expressed appreciation to the 13 staff members for their dedication and contribution to the Authority.
