Cameroon have won the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations for the first time after defeating Malawi 3-0 in Sunday’s final at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat.

Marie Ngah scored twice, while Naomi Ndjoah Eto also found the net as the Indomitable Lionesses produced a dominant first-half performance.

Ngah opened the scoring in the 20th minute before Ndjoah Eto doubled Cameroon’s lead 10 minutes later after receiving an assist from Myriam Nyadjou.

Ngah completed her brace three minutes into first-half stoppage time, with Ndjoah Eto providing the assist.

The three goals before half-time effectively ended Malawi’s hopes of winning the title on their tournament debut.

The victory makes Cameroon the fourth different nation to win the WAFCON, joining Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea and South Africa.

It also ends Cameroon’s painful record of three previous final defeats. They had lost to Nigeria in the 2004, 2014 and 2016 finals.

Cameroon can now celebrate their first-ever Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title after a memorable campaign.
