The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has completed the first phase of repair works on the Ashaiman section of the 161kV Tema-Achimota transmission line.
The company said its engineers carried out the initial repair works on Sunday, August 16, 2026, allowing power supply to affected customers to be restored.
According to GRIDCo, the next phase of the project will involve replacing the damaged transmission tower following a welding explosion that occurred in July.
The tower replacement exercise has been scheduled for Sunday, August 23, 2026.
GRIDCo said it would work with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to notify customers and communities that could be affected by the planned works, including any possible interruptions in power supply.
The company said completing the replacement of the affected tower would help restore the transmission line to its full operational strength and improve its reliability and resilience.
GRIDCo thanked customers and the affected communities for their patience and cooperation throughout the repair process.
