FIFA bans Karela United

Ghana Premier League club Karela United have been hit with a FIFA registration ban after failing to pay money owed to player Sana Camara.

In a letter dated August 17, 2026, FIFA confirmed through its Legal Portal that the ban on Karela registering new players has been activated.

The decision relates to an earlier case involving Camara under case number FPSD-23160.

“As it appears that, despite the Decision, Karela United (the Respondent) has not yet complied with its financial obligations towards Sana Camara,” FIFA stated.

The ban prevents Karela United from registering new players at both international and national levels.

The sanction will remain in place until the club pays the outstanding amount in full. However, FIFA said the ban can last for a maximum of three consecutive registration periods.

FIFA has also instructed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to enforce the ban at the national level if this has not already been done.

The amount owed to Camara was not disclosed in the FIFA letter. Karela United will need to settle the debt in line with the original FIFA decision before the registration ban can be lifted.
