The government has paid GHC10.82 billion to bondholders under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), the Finance Ministry said Wednesday.

The payment, totalling GHC10,816,840,318.26, was made in full and on schedule, according to the ministry.

It brings the total amount paid to DDEP bondholders since 2025 to GHC41.36 billion.

The latest payment is the third DDEP coupon to be settled entirely in cash, the ministry said.

The government’s DDEP, launched as part of efforts to restructure Ghana’s domestic debt and restore fiscal sustainability, has involved the exchange of existing domestic bonds for new instruments with revised terms.

The Finance Ministry said the latest payment demonstrated the government’s fiscal discipline and commitment to meeting its debt obligations.

It said timely servicing of the bonds was expected to strengthen investor confidence, reduce the risk of sovereign default and improve Ghana’s financial credibility.

The ministry also assured bondholders, investors and the public that future DDEP obligations would continue to be paid in full and on schedule.

The payment comes as Ghana continues efforts to restore investor confidence and stabilise its public finances following the debt crisis that prompted the government to undertake the domestic debt restructuring.
