Deputy National Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajia Safia Mohammed, has formally notified the party’s National Council of Elders of her intention to contest for the substantive position of National Women’s Organiser.
Hajia Safia announced her decision during an engagement with the Council of Elders, where she presented her aspirations and sought guidance from the party’s senior leadership ahead of the upcoming internal elections.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for her to share her vision for the NPP’s women’s wing and outline how she intends to contribute to strengthening the party’s structures.
Having served as Deputy National Women’s Organiser, Hajia Safia has been actively involved in mobilising and organising women across the party.

Her decision to seek the substantive position is expected to add competition to the race as the NPP prepares for its national internal elections.
During her engagement with the elders, she emphasised the importance of party unity, stronger grassroots mobilisation, inclusiveness and increased participation of women in the affairs of the NPP.
Her prospective candidature is likely to generate interest among party women as the NPP seeks to rebuild and strengthen its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The National Women’s Organiser is responsible for coordinating the party’s women’s structures across the country, mobilising women at the grassroots and promoting their active participation in party activities.

Hajia Safia Mohammed’s decision to formally notify the Council of Elders marks a significant step in her bid to lead the NPP’s women’s wing at a time when the party is seeking renewed energy and stronger organisation across its structures.
