The Jacksonville Jaguars finished the 2025 season on a roll, winning nine of their last ten games after their bye week. According to rbsdm.com, the Jaguars were seventh in EPA/play and third in EPA/play allowed during that stretch, making them one of the more dangerous teams on both sides of the ball. Despite that, the Jaguars were closer to league average in the run game, finishing 11th in EPA/rush allowed and 12th in defensive rushing success rate. Jacksonville has difference-makers at both edge positions, and Arik Armstead has proven to be a great pickup from the 49ers, but the Jaguars are looking to make a push toward being Super Bowl contenders. With both Armstead and current nose tackle Davon Hamilton having uncertainty with their contract, Bleacher Report used its 2027 mock draft to gift the Jaguars one of the more dominant defensive tackles in college football.

With the 15th Pick, the Jacksonville Jaguars Select David Stone, DT, Oklahoma

At 6’3″, 315 pounds, David Stone moves so fluently along the interior of the defensive line. His lateral quickness is special, allowing him to get into advantageous positions to use his heavy hands to shock interior offensive linemen at the point of attack and shed blocks with ease. While he is one of the better prospects due to his physical gifts, he’s still a raw prospect who doesn’t turn 21 until November 20th, a day before the Sooners host the Texas A&M Aggies.

Stone is a potentially special pickup for the Jaguars, who can stabilize the middle of the defense while also delivering even more juice for the pass rush.

Defensive Line Uncertainty in Jacksonville

According to OverTheCap, the Jaguars are currently slated to be $16.5 million over the cap at the start of the 2027 offseason, with both Davon Hamilton and Arik Armstead sitting on three void years. Both players are in the latter half of their careers, especially Armstead, who is going into year 12 in 2026. There’s a possibility that Armstead, the 2024 Walter Payton Man of the Year recipient while with Jacksonville, could play himself into one more run at a championship with the Jaguars, similar to the way Calais Campbell helped lead Jacksonville’s run in 2017. However, pairing Armstead, or Hamilton for that matter, with a player like Stone would be a great way to gain a future answer at the position, while not sacrificing the ability to compete right away on the defensive line.
