Ghanaian musician King Balance has credited dancehall artiste Shatta Wale with playing a major role in making him popular in Ghana, saying he deliberately leveraged the public interest surrounding the musician to build his own brand.
Speaking on Angel FM, Kumasi, King Balance said his association with Shatta Wale helped introduce him to a wider Ghanaian audience.
“It is through Shatta who made people know me,” he said.
According to him, Shatta Wale’s prominence in the entertainment industry created an opportunity that he and his team were able to use to attract public attention to his own activities.
“He cemented the brand. We saw him as news and took advantage of it and became famous,” King Balance explained.
He suggested that the attention generated around Shatta Wale provided him with the visibility needed to establish himself as a recognisable personality in Ghana’s entertainment space.
