French coach Patrice Beaumelle has entered the race for the vacant Black Stars head coach position as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) weighs its options for a permanent replacement.

The position became available after the end of Carlos Queiroz’s short-term contract with the national team.

Queiroz took charge of Ghana in April on a four-month agreement following the dismissal of Otto Addo in March. His brief included leading the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

With that assignment now concluded, the GFA has begun considering candidates to lead the team into its next phase.

Beaumelle is among the names being considered, with his experience managing African national teams seen as a key strength.

The Frenchman has worked with the national sides of Ivory Coast, Zambia and Angola, giving him extensive experience of international football on the continent.

He was also part of the Ivory Coast technical team that won the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations before taking over as head coach of the Elephants.

Beaumelle subsequently managed Zambia and Angola, further strengthening his record in African international football.

His familiarity with the continent, combined with his previous experience working at major international tournaments, could place him among the candidates under consideration as the GFA searches for a long-term solution for the Black Stars.
