Poll: How Far Can the Texans Go in 2026?

We all know the final scores of NFL preseason games don’t mean much. These games are all about assessing younger players and finalizing the roster. The Houston Texans lost to Fernando Mendoza and the Las Vegas Raiders Thursday night, 22-20, and are now 0-2 in the preseason. All good.

The Texans have the best defense in the NFL this year, and they flashed it last night when backup linebacker Wade Woodaz had an 80-yard pick-six. Houston has won three playoff games in the last three seasons.

The big question in Houston is whether or not quarterback C.J. Stroud can play well enough to complement that defense. A few weeks ago, our poll question asked which of the four teams that have never been to the Super Bowl — the Texans, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars — would get there first. As of now, the Lions are your pick.

The Texans are second in the poll so far.
