Al-Nassr visits Al-Riyadh today for Matchday 2 of the Saudi Pro League at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium.

The defending champions enter the capital derby after a dominant 3-0 win over Al-Fateh, followed by a 4-1 victory in the King’s Cup.

Al-Riyadh, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back after suffering a heavy 4-2 defeat to Al-Ettifaq in their last league fixture. Defender Rodrigo Abascal’s early red card played a major role in the loss, and Al-Riyadh currently sits 14th in the table after one game.

Mauricio Dulac will be hoping for a better result today, with his side having secured only six wins in their last 21 matches across all competitions.

Al-Nassr, meanwhile, sits second after its opening-day victory and also holds the upper hand in the head-to-head record.

Al-Alami have won all of their last three matches against Al Riyadh, and head coach Ange Postecoglou will be confident of securing three points today as they look to defend their Saudi Pro League title.

Is Cristiano Ronaldo Playing Today?

One of the biggest questions ahead of the fixture is whether Cristiano Ronaldo will feature.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has not yet featured for Al-Nassr since returning from the post-World Cup break. He missed the club’s opening 3-0 win over Al-Fateh and their 4-1 King’s Cup victory in midweek.

For this fixture, Ronaldo will start on the bench but is expected to get some game time later in the match.

The 41-year-old has also hinted that this could be his final season with his contract with the Saudi club running through 2027.

Postecoglou will have to navigate a demanding schedule ahead and manage his star forward’s minutes, with the AFC Champions League also set to begin next month.

The manager previously said the club would make decisions on returning players after assessing their fitness following their recovery.

“The most important thing now is recovery, especially as we have only two days after this match, and afterwards we will determine the decision on the players’ participation according to their readiness.”
