Caitlin Clark endured one of her toughest performances of the 2026 season Thursday as the Indiana Fever fell 91-85 to the Dallas Wings. Clark finished with 10 points on 4-of-15 shooting, including 2-of-10 from 3-point range. The loss snapped Indiana’s five-game winning streak and dropped the Fever to 24-13.  

Clark struggled to find her rhythm throughout the night as Dallas consistently made her work for opportunities. Dallas held the Fever to their lowest point total since Aug. 6 while getting 32 points from Arike Ogunbowale and a career-high 26 from Jessica Shepard. Wings forward Awak Kuier also impressed on defense, registering seven blocks against Indiana.

After the game, Wings coach Jose Fernandez explained how Dallas approached defending Clark.

“Well, we wanted to get it out of her hands, you know, I mean, pick-and-roll situation in the middle of the floor, she’s so good. So, if it was going to be on the side of the floor, we wanted to get it out of her hands, make other people make shots.”

Clark’s performance was a sharp contrast to her  previous meeting with Dallas. On Aug. 14, she scored 29 points and had 10 assists as Indiana defeated the Wings 98-87. Clark was especially effective in the third quarter, scoring 16 points to help the Fever pull away.  

On Thursday, however, the Wings were able to successfully force the ball away from her. Despite Clark’s shooting struggles, she continued to create for Indiana, finishing with nine assists as Kelsey Mitchell carried the scoring load with 37 points.

Clark will have a quick opportunity to respond Saturday when the Fever visit the New York Liberty at Barclays Center. Indiana enters the matchup 24-13, while New York is 22-15, with seven games remaining in the regular season.
