During a high-level meeting in the city of El Alamein, Egypt, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani celebrated the notable progress achieved between the two nations under the guidance of their leaderships.

A growing economic partnership between Egypt and Qatar

Foreign Minister Abdelatty revealed that trade between Egypt and Qatar grew by an impressive 80 percent in the year 2025.

This growth is supported by major investment projects, such as Estate Investment company, Qatari Diar launching the first phase of its project on August 9, 2026.

Furthermore, Qatar is directly investing in a sustainable aviation fuel manufacturing plant in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

Abdelatty praised this green energy project, stating it is a "reflection of confidence in Egypt's investment climate and the promising opportunities offered by the Egyptian economy".

Coordinating on regional security across the Gulf and Middle East

Beyond commerce, the two nations are aligning closely on critical security and diplomatic challenges across the Middle East and Africa.

Both sides stressed the absolute necessity of political and diplomatic solutions to lower tensions, calling for a return to the negotiating track between the United States and Iran.

They also emphasized the importance of maintaining what the State Information Service of Egypt referred to as "the security, safety, and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law" to protect global energy security and supply chains.

Additionally, the ministers discussed about securing a peace plan for the Gaza Strip, raising serious warnings about settler attacks in the West Bank, and expressing firm support for the sovereignty and stability of Lebanon, Sudan, and Somalia.

A key pillar of this renewed alliance is the mutual support for workers and human resources.

During the meeting, Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the care and support Qatar provides to the Egyptian expatriate community.

To streamline future cooperation, Egypt declared its readiness to provide specialized and professional workers to meet the demands of the Qatari labor market.
