Enzo Maresca confirms Savinho asked to leave club
Marmoush has not done so but also likely to depart City
Enzo Maresca has revealed Savinho made clear his desire to leave Manchester City on âday oneâ of his tenure but that Omar Marmoush has not asked to depart the club as the pair move close to joining Tottenham for £85m and £75m respectively.
Savinho signed for the City Football Group in the summer of 2022 for â¬40m (£30.8m), first joining Troyes, so the prospective sale of the 22-year-old for £85m represents a near £55m profit for Cityâs owners. Marmoush, meanwhile, was bought in January 2025 from Eintracht Frankfurt for about £59m but, as with Savinho, the Egypt forward was not a regular starter under Pep Guardiola, due to having to compete with Erling Haaland.
âSavio since day one asked to leave and Omar didnât ask to leave since day one,â said Maresca. âItâs quite clear that when players say they want to leave, for any reason, then it is complicated to convince them to change their mind. It happened with Rodri [to Barcelona] and the same thing is happening with Savinho. Since day one he has said that he wants to leave. Now we are waiting.â
After loans at PSV and Girona, Savinho joined City two years ago but the winger failed to establish himself as a first-choice under Guardiola.
If Spurs do buy Savinho and Marmoush it would take the clubâs investment in Roberto De Zerbiâs squad this summer to £387m, after the purchases of Sandro Tonali (£100m, Mateus Fernandes (£85m) and Jan Paul van Hencke (£52m).
