President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has suspended all forms of public gatherings in tandem with other measures to curb further spread of the coronavirus pandemic after the announcement of six (6) confirmed cases by health authorities.
The order to cease all forms of public gatherings include church services and funerals with funerals limited to a total of twenty-five (25) in attendance.
The president also announced the closure of all schools in the country until further notice with the exception of those in the final year who will be permitted to go to school to prepare for their final exams.
The ministry of education has however been tasked to roll-out distance learning programs.
The president also upheld travel restrictions announced earlier today by the information ministry. Businesses, including establishments that count on large numbers such as shopping malls, hotels, restaurants and night clubs have been directed to have sanitizers on-site as well as a means for customers to wash their hands under running water.
The transport ministry has been tasked to ensure that all public transports have hand sanitizers for use by commuters and where possible to provide running water and soap.
The ministry of local government has also been tasked to ensure that our markets are clean and are provided with sanitizers, running water and soap to ensure that citizens who use the markets will be able to wash their hands and prevent further spread of the virus.
Nana Akufo-Addo appealed to all those who have been contacted as part of contact tracing exercises for the confirmed cases to cooperate with authorities and where necessary get the needed help to survive the pandemic.
