First Lady of the Republic, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo has sent a heartwarming message to her better-half, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo. The message affirms her love but also acknowledges the difficult situation the president is managing with respect to the coronavirus outbreak.

“Happy birthday to the First gentleman of the land, my dear husband, Nana Akufo-Addo. On this day may God guide and strengthen you as you navigate these rough waters. It will always be well with you my love.” the post on Twitter read.

The coronavirus pandemic is arguably the biggest challenge Nana Akufo-Addo has had to deal with even as some 185 countries across the world grapple with the same.

The disease has claimed over 30,000 lives and infected close to 700,000 globally. In Ghana, coronavirus has infected some 141 persons, claimed five (5) lives with two (2) recoveries.

The fear of health authorities is that with a death rate of 1 to 4% and an alarming infection rate and no vaccine in sight, COVID-19 may kill millions before it abates.

Ghana has issued travel restrictions and a partial lockdown in a bid to contain the spread and protect human lives. The president in his last address said his government “knew how to revive the economy” but what they don’t know how to do is to bring people back to life.
