Countdown to NPP Special Delegates Congress: Know Your Voting Center

The New Patriotic Party gears up for its landmark Special Delegates Congress on August 26, 2023, with the announcement of 16 regional voting centers.

Ahead of the Saturday, August 26, 2023, Special Delegates Congress of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the party’s Presidential Elections Committee has announced the regional voting centers for the much-anticipated event. In an official press conference held on Monday, August 22, 2022, in Accra, Kwabena Abankwah-Yeboah, Vice Chairman of the NPP Presidential Elections Committee, took center stage to reveal the locations that will play a crucial role in shaping the party’s future leadership.

With only a few days left for the monumental event, the unveiling of the 16 regional voting centers marks a significant step forward in the election process. The Special Delegates Congress will not only select the party’s presidential candidate but also determine the five finalists who will proceed to the final stages of the competition.

The momentous occasion will witness the participation of 10 candidates, each vying for the honor of representing the NPP in the upcoming national elections. The lineup includes renowned names such as Alan Kyerematen, Kwadwo Poku, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Boakye Agyarko, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie, Joe Ghartey, and Francis Addai-Nimoh. These candidates embody the diversity of talent and vision within the party, setting the stage for a spirited contest.

The Regional Voting Centers

The 16 regional voting centers are strategically spread across the country, facilitating easy access for party delegates and members from all corners of Ghana. The NPP has prioritized transparency and inclusivity, allowing the process to take place at locations familiar to the electorate. The announced regional voting centers are as follows: Ashanti: KNUST, Law Faculty, Kumasi; Ahafo: Pastoral Center, Goaso; Bono: Pastoral Centre, Sunyani; Bono East: Kokroko Social Centre, Techiman; Central: Quadrangle, UCC, Cape Coast; Eastern: Koforidua Secondary Technical School; Greater Accra: YMCA, Adabraka, Accra; Northern Region: Tamale College of Education, Tamale; North East: Nalerigu Secondary School; Savannah: Damango Youth Center; Upper East: Bolgatanga Technical University Library Complex; Upper West: Old UDS Campus, WA; Oti: Dambai College of Education; Volta: Catholic Secretariat (Bishop Konings Centre), Ho; Western: Great Hall, Takoradi Technical University, Takoradi; Western North: Pastoral Center, Sefwi-Wiawso; National Headquarters: NPP HQ, Asylum Down.

Vice Chairman Kwabena Abankwah-Yeboah emphasized that all aspirants and their respective teams have been fully informed of the arrangements for the congress, ensuring that the event unfolds smoothly and without any hitches. This commitment to transparency and open communication reflects the NPP’s dedication to upholding the principles of fairness and credibility in its internal democratic processes.
