Hohoe United have officially withdrawn from the ongoing Ghana Premier League season, the club announced following an emergency board meeting on Wednesday.
In a statement, the club confirmed that it has communicated its decision to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), bringing an abrupt end to its campaign.
The Volta Region side had endured a challenging season, sitting in the relegation zone with 30 points from 27 matches, facing a steep task to maintain their top-flight status.
Their difficulties were compounded by off-field issues, including a three-match home ban imposed after the club failed to provide adequate security during a previous incident at the Hohoe Sports Stadium.
Consequently, Hohoe United were forced to play most of their home fixtures on neutral grounds. Of their remaining seven matches, only one was scheduled at their home venue, with the other six effectively treated as away games.
Club officials said this situation created a significant competitive disadvantage, ultimately influencing their decision to withdraw from the league.
