The Head of the Computer Science Department of the Koforidua Technical University Ebenezer Gavua says the Cyber Security Act and the Data Protection Act are there to protect users of the internet so as not to get to the hands of scammers.

He has noted that every internet platform has security features that protect the user and information it’s share.

Gavua was speaking at a workshop organise by the Internet Society. Ghana for students of the Koforidua Technical University on Navigating the Digital Space.

“Several years ago there was a student who started his own company when he was in second year and now has a global company.” he said

He therefore urged students of computer science not to wait till they finish school before starting something and the youth must arise to use the internet securely.

A Network Administrator Charlotte Delali Wenya says students should take advantage of the digital age by working and earning on the internet .

She said there are a lot of opportunities on the internet which the students can take advantage of and better their lives

“The Internet Society Ghana is not paying u but volunteering will open a lot of job opportunities for u”.she said.

Madam Wenya urged students to use their social media handle to share what they are learning and it can open job opportunities for them in future.

“Don’t wait join the internet society and by the time you know you have created a lot of job opportunities for yourself”Madam Wenya said.
