The Ghana National Gas Company has rejected allegations of impropriety in its recent procurement activities, saying changes to its insurance arrangements followed due process and were aimed at strengthening risk management.

In a statement, the company said concerns raised in sections of the media were linked to the appointment of a new lead insurer after previous contracts expired at the end of the year.

“The Company wishes to categorically assure the general public that no wrongdoing has occurred,” it said, adding that the new insurance structure represents “an enhanced risk management strategy to safeguard the Company’s assets.”

Ghana Gas said all contracts awarded had received the necessary approvals from the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), following commitment authorisations by the Ministry of Finance.

The company said it remains committed to transparency, compliance and corporate governance, and would continue to review its internal processes where necessary.

Signed by Head of Corporate Affairs Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, the statement reaffirmed the company’s focus on delivering gas efficiently to meet Ghana’s energy needs.

The clarification comes amid increased scrutiny of procurement processes within state-owned enterprises, particularly in sectors linked to energy and infrastructure.
