The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has denied social media claims suggesting that its Director-General, Mohammed Abdul-Salam, has reduced staff salaries while increasing his own pay.
In a statement, the Authority described the allegations as false and misleading, and intended to damage the reputation of management.
The NLA said no salary cuts have been implemented and explained that staff had instead benefited from salary adjustments following engagement with the local union.
It said a 5% salary increase and an 8% utility allowance had been approved through discussions with the Governing Board.
The Authority also dismissed claims that the Director-General’s salary had been increased from GHC38,000 to GHC 70,000, saying such decisions follow formal approval processes and cannot be made unilaterally.
It further clarified that ongoing reviews of conditions of service cover both management and staff, and are currently under consideration by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.
The NLA added that legal action would be taken against media outlets that publish unverified claims.
