Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, an aspirant for the Ashanti Regional chairmanship of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), says he is confident of victory in the party’s upcoming internal elections, describing his campaign as rooted in humility, unity and strong grassroots support.

Speaking after a Mother’s Day service at the Heaven Seekers Ministry on Sunday (10 May), Appiah, popularly known as COKA, expressed optimism that he would emerge victorious when the party goes to the polls.

He called on delegates and party supporters to back his ambition with prayers, stressing that leadership within the party must be guided by discipline and integrity.

“I have trust in God and I believe that on the 8 August, latest by 6pm, I am going to be the next regional chairman of the NPP in the Ashanti Region,” he said.

“I want to lead with humility, dedication, integrity. So, I humbly ask for prayers,” he added.

Appiah said his campaign was also focused on strengthening unity within the party in the Ashanti Region, a key stronghold for the NPP, ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He argued that internal cohesion would be critical for maintaining the party’s electoral competitiveness and rebuilding momentum at the national level.

The aspirant also used the platform to reiterate his concerns about illegal mining, known locally as galamsey, describing it as a major environmental threat requiring urgent national attention.

“Galamsey is not about NDC or NPP… it is destroying our lands, harming our people and we cannot sit unconcerned without addressing it,” he said.

He urged a united national response to tackle illegal mining, warning that continued degradation of land and water bodies could have long-term consequences for communities and livelihoods across Ghana.
