Black Sherif emerged as the biggest winner at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), taking home five awards including the coveted Artiste of the Year title for the second time in his career.

The ceremony, held at the Grand Arena in Accra on Saturday night, celebrated some of Ghana’s top musical talents across genres ranging from gospel and highlife to hip hop and Afrobeats.

Black Sherif’s success was powered by his sophomore album Iron Boy, which also won Album/EP of the Year. The artist further secured Songwriter of the Year for “Sacrifice”, Best Hiphop Song for “Where Dem Boys”, and Best Afropop Song for “Sacrifice”.

Rapper Medikal also enjoyed a strong showing, winning four awards including Most Popular Song of the Year and Best Collaboration for “Shoulder”, featuring Shatta Wale and Beeztrap KOTM.

Elsewhere, Kofi Kinaata won Best Highlife Artiste and Best Highlife Song with “It Is Finished”, while Stonebwoy extended his dominance in reggae and dancehall by winning Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste.

Gospel musician Diana Hamilton reclaimed the Best Gospel Artiste award, with Kofi Owusu Peprah winning Best Urban Contemporary Gospel Song.

International recognition also featured prominently on the night. Moliy won International Collaboration of the Year alongside Jamaican stars Shenseea and Skillibeng for the remix of “Shake It To The Max”, while Nigerian singer Davido won Best African Song with “With You” featuring Omah Lay.

Veteran highlife icon Daddy Lumba received the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his decades-long contribution to Ghanaian music.
